Like most dog owners, my puppy is my best friend. She’s kept me company through some of the very toughest times in life. I can’t think of a better way to show her how much I love her than to make her some healthy homemade treats! This recipe was super easy to make:
- 2 ½ cups of oats, I used one minute oats
- A pinch of salt
- 1 egg
- I tsp chicken stock
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 2 to 3 slices of bacon
In a non-stick pan over medium heat, cook bacon until crisp, flipping as needed. This should take about five minutes. Drain, reserving 1 tsp of bacon fat to mix with the wet ingredients. Transfer bacon to a cutting board and chop into bite sized pieces. Slowly add dry ingredients into wet ingredients and knead into a ball. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees before you roll dough until it is ½ inches thick. Now, use a spoon and your hands to form drop-cookie-like bite sizes for your furry friend. Place the treats on a lightly greased cookie sheet and cook for twenty minutes. Let them cool before rewarding your pup for all the hard work they do. Don’t forget to store the treats in an airtight container or bag. My canine pall loved these and I hope yours does too!
